The Process

Here you can see how easy it is to get started with stem cell collection and what happens next with your child's stem cells.

We have made it easy to have stem cells collected and stored

At Cellaviva you will be assisted throughout the whole process, from ordering to collection and the following information. Once you have ordered the Cellaviva box you will be contacted by one of our midwives. When you recognise the signs of birth, contact Cellaviva’s hotline, which of course is open 24/7. If you have chosen our help with collection, your Cellaviva midwife will promptly arrive at your birthplace where she collects the stem cells. She will handle everything that needs to be done so, you and your family can concentrate on the birth and the new family member. Just remember to bring your box to the birthplace.

Collecting stem cells

We recommend the choice of blood stem cell collection aid for the geographical areas we are able to attend, as collections performed by our trained staff often result in a larger volume being collected. We are consistently working to educate collection professionals across Sweden. If you are curious to know whether we have personnel in your city, please feel free to contact us. We can go further if it is a planned caesarean section. As a family, you can also choose to do the collection yourself or in some cities ask the maternity staff at the hospital you are giving birth to help, note however that there is no guarantee that they will say yes. The maternity service is under great strain and it is not Cellaviva’s intention to burden it further. An individual assessment will be made by the midwife in charge of your birth and we ask you to respect their response.

In the laboratory, which is among the world’s most recognised, we perform careful quality controls, processes and analysis of the stem cells before the cells are frozen.

The stem cells are stored in cryotanks at Cellaviva in the family’s own cryo cassettes. When the cells are stored at a temperature of -196 ° C, they are preserved in cryosleep. In this way, cells retain both their quality and vitality.

Security
Cellaviva, as the only stem cell bank in the Nordic region, ensures that your child’s stem cells are viable, of the highest quality and ready for delivery in a few days if your family needs them in the future.
