Cellaviva x PregLife Collab

Preserve your newborn baby's stem cells in an easy and secure process

By storing your newborn baby’s stem cells after birth, you create a biological backup and a sense of security for your family. This has become increasingly common due to the growing awareness of the unique healing function of stem cells. Cellaviva, Scandinavia’s largest stem cell bank, makes it easier for you to save your child’s stem cells.

For more than ten years, Cellaviva has been helping expectant parents in Sweden secure stem cells at birth – for the future medical use of both the child and the family. The process is simple, quick and, above all, safe.

Collection of stem cells

Take advantage of the fact that over 40 weeks your body has created something unique

Week by week you follow your baby’s development and put a lot of energy into creating something exceptionally unique – your baby. Once the weeks of pregnancy have passed, regardless of how many they are for you, your baby will eventually be born. When the new-born baby lies skin-to-skin with its mother and the umbilical cord is cut, the remaining part still contains stem cells, the same powerful stem cells that helped your baby develop organs, blood, tissue and an immune system during pregnancy.

Umbilical cord blood and umbilical cord tissue are rich in two different types of stem cells, both of which play important roles in regenerative medicine, and each works in its own way. Once the umbilical cord has been cut, it and the placenta no longer serve any function for either mother or child, and the remaining stem cells are discarded along with them, unless you actively choose to preserve them.

The function of stem cells

Therefore, you should consider storing stem cells from the umbilical cord

Stem cells are immature cells that have not yet specialized. Their natural function is to detect damaged and dysfunctional cells in the body and begin a healing and renewal process. Therefore, it is not surprising that they are currently used in treatment in several different disease areas, including in the treatment of over 80 serious diseases, including congenital blood and immunodeficiency diseases, blood cancers, bone marrow diseases and inherited metabolic diseases.

Stem cells are found in different places in the body, for example in bone marrow and in fat tissue. But even stem cells age along with our bodies. The reason you want to save them as early as possible is because that’s when they’re at their most powerful. Stem cells from the umbilical cord are also more flexible and adaptable, ie. easier to match in a transplant than, for example, stem cells from bone marrow.

An investment for the future

With just a few simple steps

01

Order

The Cellaviva box contains all the necessary equipment for collecting stem cells from your child's umbilical cord. You simply order the Cellaviva box online and bring it with you to the birthplace when the birth starts.

02

Collection

The collection is done without intervention, you are simply collecting a valuable waste product that would otherwise have been thrown away.

Once the collection is complete, it is sent by medical courier to Cellaviva's laboratory, where rigorous quality controls, processes and analyses of the stem cells are carried out.

03

Freeze

For three months, we grow and isolate the stem cells before freezing them for long-term storage in our stem cell bank. We handle our customers' stem cells in the same way as when we supply donated stem cells for clinical trials or for treatment. In this way, we ensure that the cells frozen by the customer are viable and of the highest quality.

Do not let the stem cells go to waste

If you choose Cellaviva, you can be sure that the umbilical cord stem cells you have frozen are ready for delivery for treatment in a few days if the need arises.
